Mr. Coo will perform
The Boccherini Sonata in A major and Beethoven Sonata in A major Short pieces by Faure, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky.
Accompanying Mr. Coo is pianist Eliza Ching.
Free to the Public Victor Coo Victor Coo was the principal cellist and soloist of the New England Youth Ensemble
and has toured with the ensemble to Jamaica, England, Scotland, Zimbabwe, South
Africa, Mexico, Germany, Austria, Italy, France, Switzerland, and Iceland. graduated
Summa Cum Laude in the spring of 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Columbia Union College,
in Takoma Park, MD.
Mr. Coo began playing the cello just before entering the Philippine High School
for the Arts where he received his special training. Graduating in high school with distinction, he then continued his musical training
with Johanne Perron at the Conservatory of Music at Lynn University in Boca Raton,
Florida. During his time in Florida, he won several competitions and awards including
the National Society of Arts and Letters, the Boca Pops Competition, and the Conservatory
Concerto Competition. In winning the Conservatory Concerto Competition, he had the opportunity to perform
the Elgar Cello Concerto as a soloist with the Lynn Philharmonia.
It was at the Interlochen Arts Camp in the Summer of 1999 that as a result of
winning the concerto competition he performed the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto No.
1 with the World Youth Symphony Orchestra. Just this past summer (2004), Victor had the opportunity to play the 1st movement of the Dvorak Cello Concerto with the MasterWorks Festival Orchestra,
in Winona Lake, IN, upon being one of the winners of the festival’s concerto competition. He has also attended the prestigious summer festival in Fontainebleau, France
and was a recipient of the Chamber Music Prize for the rendition of the Kodaly
duo.
Victor has been under the tutelage of Evelyn Elsing since the spring of 2002. In addition, he has had masterclasses with Orlando Cole, Ronald Leonard, Marc Drobinsky, and Anne Martindale-Williams.

Approximately 1.3 miles at Second light. Make a LEFT onto MAIN STREET. Go three blocks and turn RIGHT onto FIFTH STREET. Turn LEFT into Church Parking Lot. Parking is available at Church or on Fifth Street. Concert is in the Church Assembly Hall. From Baltimore: Take I-95 South toward Washington, D.C. Go to Rt. 216 exit. Go East toward Laurel.
